LUUM IS A LONDON BASED CONTEMPORARY LIGHTING STUDIO, DEDICATED TO THE DESIGN, MANUFACTURE AND DELIVERY OF SPECTACULAR LIGHT INSTALLATIONS FOR SOME OF THE WORLD'S FINEST INTERIORS.

The studio is founded on the shared vision and experience of Andrew Watson, director of a successful lighting manufacturing company and Chris Fox, original designer and creative director.

Our process is defined by a thoughtful and considered approach. We are sensitive to the relationship between architecture and light and focus on delivering dynamic lighting and impactful design. Luum work in a variety of ways for a wide range of design conscious clients, from designers and specifiers to private individuals. We cover a range of sectors including hospitality, commercial, public and residential spaces. Our clients commission us to unlock the full potential of their unique projects.

Luum offers a spectrum of services beginning with the design and manufacture of our own lighting collections. As natural collaborators Luum are happy to offer our designs in custom materials and finishes, whilst the playful flexibility of our work enables components to be artfully arranged and reconfigured as required. Finally we create totally bespoke lighting and installations for you.

Luum works with like-minded craftspeople and skilled manufacturers, ensuring designs are produced to our exacting standards. Our experienced project managers and proactive technical team deliver and install to specification.

ABOUT LEAF

A cascade of aluminium discs pierced with a sunray design tumbles from the sky. Look up and you are reminded of the dappled light of the sun filtered through the canopy of a tree. The boundaries of the pendant and the space beyond it are blurred, creating an elegant and adaptable centrepiece.

Each disc can be tilted and positioned along three axes, offering flexibility of arrangement. It is possible to create a formal and regimented appearance or to take a more organic approach to assembly. 

Leaf can be easily adapted to a bespoke width and drop and is available in custom paint, powder coat or anodized finishes.

Critique: The fixture is very flexible and it can be custom made to the clients preference. the piece is very playful and very fun and unique. the inspiration of the piece is very spot on like you can definitely see how the inspiration translated to the designing of the fixture. The piece is big and is more for a commercial space like hotels, but it can also be in a residence if the place is big.

THE PLAYFULNESS OF SCALE ENGAGES AND DELIGHTS AS MOVING LIQUID IS RENDERED PERMANENT.

      

ABOUT RAINDROP

The fluidity of molten glass is used perfectly to describe a shower of giant hand-blown and silvered drops, raining from an unseen source. The playfulness of scale engages and delights as moving liquid is rendered permanent.

Raindrop is lit from above as well as within. A series of small lamps are placed amongst the installation allowing light to reflect off the mirrored surfaces of each individually shaped droplet.

Critique: The piece is different in a sense that the blown glass is mirrored and each piece has a light inside of it, it also lit from above so if the light from the glass is not sufficient the light above can help it. The glass that has a silver mirrored finish could also help distribute light. the piece is very playful and fun, it perfect for lobbies and restaurants that are semi formal and formal. it does look like raindrops like the name implies. 

LIGHTSPPED 

ABOUT LIGHTSPEED

Lightspeed comprises of a series of suspended and internally lit blown glass tubes, arranged to convey a sense of dynamic movement. The curving trails of light, suggesting a speed only possible in outer space, create a sweeping and fluid motion that is contained by the walls of a static interior space.

The proportions of Light Speed are directed by the scale and nature of its intended space. LUUM manufacture a bespoke version of this installation in conversation with the client.

Critique:this pieces reminds me of passing cars that are fast it does live up to its name like the speed of light. the piece does also remind me of space like that inspiration says, again this piece is good for lobbies and commercial spaces, it very playful, fun and unique and it is very creative. you can also customized it to the clients preference.
